Ghana: Suhum DCE Joins Citizens to Kick Out Polio

Isaac Akwetey

16 November 2009

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar Assembly, Mr. Sammy Kwabi, last Friday joined residents of the district to drum home the essence of polio immunisation in the country.

The DCE, who was smartly dressed in brown trousers and white round neck, with a cowboy hat to match, took the campaign to the Suhum Kindergarten School, where he administered some drops of vitamin syrup to the children.

Even though it was an interesting scene, as some of the children opened their mouths in anticipation of the drops, many were them ran around the school with the DCE in tow, as if he was going to beat or kill them.

He was accompanied by some staff from the Suhum Government Hospital, including Dr. Boateng, and some staff of the assembly.

Prior to the exercise, he called on Ghanaians, particularly teachers, to help eradicate polio completely in the country, since the nation would suffer, because the nation could not perform well when her people are sick.
