The National Elections Commission (NEC) Wednesday blamed the Liberia National Police (LNP) for delays in the Tuesday, November 11 by-election polling, but the Police have termed the Commission's claimed as "lies".

Police Inspector General Mark Amblard described NEC Chairman James Flomoyan's statement that Police did not show up at some polling places as "a lie" and "misleading information".

Announcing preliminary results of the controversial Tuesday's polling, Cllr. Flomoyan attributed the delay in the start of the poll to "the absence of officers of the Liberia National Police in some of the polling places in the county".

But addressing the weekly press briefing of the Ministry of Information Cultural and Tourism, Inspector Amblard disclosed that police officers were deployed at polling stations places 48 hours ahead, contrary to Flomoyan's blame-shifting.

The Police Chief assured that despite the false allegation, the force will not stay away from its constitutional responsibilities, including working with the very NEC-in providing public safety and ensuring law and order-in the interest of the Liberian people.

Police has arrested and charged 10 persons with murder and facilitation to commit murder in connection with the brutal killing of the Public Procurement and Concession Commission (PPCC) Chairman Keith Jubah early this month, Amblard disclosed. They will shortly be forwarded to court.

Police, he said, has retrieved the "murder weapon" (single barrel) used to carry on the act and all those arrested have confessed to the commission of the crime.
