Uganda: Kazini's Alleged Killer Charged With Murder

Daily Monitor Reporter

16 November 2009

Lydia Draru, the confessed killer of Maj. Gen. James Kazini, has been charged with murder of the former army commander.

Draru, who was Gen. Kazini's lover, appeared before the Grade Two Magistrate's Court in Makindye.

Ms Draru told the Police last week that she hit him "three times" in self-defence after he threatened her.

Judge Namagembe Maxencia has remanded her to Luzira prison until November 30 when the case will be brought up for mention. The judge advised Ms Draru to apply for bail before the High Court.

Ms Draru appeared in the same red suit she was wearing last week amidst limited security and appeared calm throughout the proceedings.
