Two people have been confirmed dead in Buliisa following a violent hailstorm that hit parts of the district on Sunday night. At least 30 people are nursing injuries in hospitals.

The storm also razed more than 40 properties in the town council including the Resident District Commissioners office, the beach management unit and some schools.

The area MP Stephen Mukitale is calling for urgent intervention especially for displaced families and schools that were preparing for their end of year examinations.

Mr Mukitale fears the situation could worsen in the future due to massive deforestation by pastoralists in the area.
