Kigali — All judges will commence a one month Christmas recess starting December 1, till January 4, 2010.

Speaking to The New Times, the president of the High Court, Judge Johnson Busingye said that the judges' holidays do not mean closure of court business.

"One or two judges will remain back to work on emergency cases and also court presidents will chip in whenever intervention is needed."

"They will be on standby ready to be called upon at any time of the day," Busingye explained.

Fabien Kizza the president of Gasabo Intermediate Court also said all his judges will have concluded all cases before November 30, and only one Judge will be left behind to work on urgent issues.

Kizza said urgent issues will include pre-trial detentions, giving a way court documents and any authorisation needed from the courts.
