Abuja — FCT Minister Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero recently flagged- off the multi-billion-naira fly-over bridge and other channelization works at Mogadishu Cantonment/Sunrise Hills Estate, Abuja.
The Minister said the FCT Administration has awarded the contract for the construction of the Fly-Over Bridge and other Channelization works in the sum of N4,986,626,165.25 to Setraco Nigeria Limited with a completion period of 18 months.
He explained that the contract is based on Public-Private-Partnership arrangements between the FCT Administration and Sunrise Estate Development Limited, whereby the FCT Administration will provide the initial down payment of 15 per cent of the project cost, while the contractor will co-finance it to completion.
Senator Aliero recalled that early in the year, the federal government awarded the contract for the rehabilitation and expansion of the Airport/Kubwa roads respectively to facilitate the movement of people into the city at peak hours, which he said is now 15 per cent complete.
The Minister remarked further that with the completion of the AYA interchange along Abuja-Keffi road, the remaining bottleneck would be the entrance into the Mogadishu Cantonment, which he noted has made the FCT Administration to take this proactive measure.
He however warned the contractor handling the project to execute it in accordance with the specified standards and deliver it on schedule.
