A former Arsenal official, Mr. David Dein has described Super Eagles captain, Kanu Nwankwo as a special genius that is rare to come by. Speaking in a special presentation at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja, weekend, the football expert said "players of Kanu's caliber are very rear to come by.
They come once in a life time, and when they leave the scene, they are very difficult to replace. He is a very big influence in your team, and in whatever club he plays for."
Mr. Dein said that the influence of African players in the premiership cannot be over emphasized, and that the premiership cannot succeed without the influence of foreigners who dominates the league. He said that in 1992 when the league started, that they had only 15 foreigners, but today, over 60 foreign players are plying their trade in the league.
He further explained that winning the premiership is based on the amount of money clubs expended on it yearly. He advised local residents in Nigeria to join hands together to buy and fund a club, devoid of government interference, arguing that it is the only way the league can strive in the country.
