Katsina — Reconstruction and rehabilitation of Kano-Daura-Katsina road and the expansion of three killer bridges along Katsina-Daura is to cost the federal government a total of two point three billion naira (N2.32bn), minister of works Dr Hassan Lawal disclosed.
The minister who was on inspection tour of all the federal roads awarded in the state expressed satisfaction with the thirty seven percent (37%) completion stage reached by the contracting firm, Triacta Nigeria limited.
Dr Hassan who specifically commend the reconstruction and expansion of the three bridges describe them as an old premier bridges which needed to be expanded to tally with Yar'adua's administration plan to open up commercial areas and develop infrastructures in the country.
In a remark, governor of Katsina state, Ibrahim Shehu Shema express gratitude for the bridges reconstruction which he said has claim too numerous lives and properties, saying the state has known the President as a man of good planning and practical implementation.
Earlier a representative of the contracting firm assured the minister of completing the road before the rainy season as they have already reclaimed all the potential loss areas and began the reconstruction of the entire road.
