Tunis — Under the patronage of Mrs. Leila Ben Ali, the Spouse of the President of the Republic and President of the Arab women Organization (AWO), a reception was held on Monday evening at Dar Hssine in Tunis Medina, in honor of creative Arab theatre women currently taking part in the event.
Mr. Abderraouf El Basti, the Minister of Culture and Heritage Preservation, Mrs. Neziha Zarrouk second vice-president of the House of Councilors and Mrs. Aziza Htira, President of the National Union of Tunisian Women (UNFT), took part in the event.
In her address Mrs. Neziha Zarrouk conveyed the greetings of Mrs. Leila Ben Ali to the Arab artists taking part in the new edition of the Carthage Theatre days, which coincides this year with the celebration of the centennial anniversary of Tunisian theatre.
She highlighted the importance of art in general and theater in particular, in changing attitudes and in fighting against underdevelopment and dogmatism.
Several women artists from Tunisia, Libya, Jordan and Syria expressed their pride in taking part in this session which has provided them with the opportunity to share experiences.
