Dar Es Salaam — LEGENDARY professional boxers Joseph Marwa 'smart boy' and Rashid Matumla 'snake boy,' are set to exchange blows in a 10-round bout on Christmas Day, at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Promoter of the fight, Ramadhan Uhadi, told journalists today that the scramble has been sanctioned by the Tanzania Professional Boxing Organization (TPBO), following requests by boxing fans.

Last time, the duo traded punches 14 years ago.

"It will be an historic fight because the two boxers have won accolades, both inside and outside the country," he said.

Ahadi also pledged maximum security to avoid fracas, that recently marred a fight between Japhet Kaseba and Francis Cheka, at the same venue. Both Matumla and Marwa bragged to emerge victorious in the fight.

Matumla said: "I'm ready for the fight. I know his (Marwa) strengths and weaknesses very well and I've been training hard to keep in good shape ready for the fight. I'm sure this time Marwa will take his gloves off for good."

On the other hand, Marwa said he was still strong and warned his rival to prepare for the storm.

"I can't say much but what I know is that am going win the fight come what may. Matumla should get ready for a serious fight," he said.

There will be other ten supporting bouts where Chiwa Hussein will face Sweet Kalulu, while Omary Ramadhan will have a date against Fred Sayuni and Mbaruk Kheri will confront Omary Ndumu.

Others are Lusekelu Daud VS Omary Van Dame, Fadhili Majia VS Best, Charles Mashal VS Hussein Mbonde, Mussa Hassan VS Mbuchi and Rajabu Ngemba VS Hassan Zungu. The entrance fee will be 3,000/- for the green stand, 5,000/- popular and 10,000/- for the VIPs.
