Nigeria: PPMC Ejigbo Depot Suspends Loading Over Fire Incident

Lagos — Fuel scarcity in Lagos and its environ may continue unabated as the Ejigbo depot of the Petroleum Pipeline marketing Company(PPMC) on Tuesday evening suspended loading activities.

The development followed an inferno which gutted one of the loading gantries at the depot.

Leadership gathered that the fire incident was as a result of a spark from a petroleum tanker which caught fire while loading at the depot.

lnvestigation by Leadership showed that the inferno was immediately put out by fire fighters stationed at the depot.Leadership further gathered that the suspension may be lifted soon.

When contacted on phone ,the Spokesman of the Petroleum Pipeline Marketing Company(PPMC),Raph Ugwu, said that the inferno is just a small incident in the depot,adding that the situation has returned to nomalcy.

"It is a small accident ,a normal thing in a carbonhydrate environment, the fire has been put out and normal loading activities have commenced," he said.
