Nigeria: World Disabilities Congress Begins Today in Florida

New York — The annual World Congress on Disabilities and Expo where discussions on how to eradicate disabilities will be kicking off today (Thursday) at the Prime F. Osborn iii convention center, Jacksonville in Florida between 19th and 20th November, 2009.

Leadership Correspondent in New York gathered from the office of the World Congress on Disabilities and Expo that this year's edition of the conference that is dedicated to improve the lives of those with developmental and physical disabilities, their families and professionals who work with them will be filled with education and inspiration.

A statement gathered by Leadership said that the WCD Expo is proud to have been chosen to host the United States Military's Exceptional Family Member Program, noting that hundreds of serviceman from the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines would attend special educational programs at the events.

It further continued that the World Congress on Disabilities which will run through the 20th of November 2009 was really prepared for a disaster, having an Emergency Preparedness Plan in place.

During the congress, the Assistive Technology Pavilion will display state-of-the-art assistive technology in the areas of augmentative communication, computer access, interfaces, low-tech environmental controls, and written output.

The statement reads: "WCD Expo is an event with two main features. The Expo is where you can see all of the latest products and services that are improving the lives of those with disabilities. The Conference is where you can learn about issues facing the disability community from experts

Meanwhile, many equipments will be available to explore and individuals knowledgeable in assistive technology will be available to answer questions.

Lynnie Morgan of the Canine Companions for independence Volunteer and Parent of Challenged Children, in her statement said that the World Congress on Disabilities and Expo had allowed her to network with others who understood the challenges associated with living with a disability.
