Gaborone — Two of the hottest names in local dance music have teamed up for what is expected to be a sizzler of an album this December.
Vee Sento, the inventor of the House/kwaito kwasa genre, has joined forces with the hottest selling muso, Slizer one Time, of O tswa Kae fame, for a dance album that started circulating yesterday.
Titled Tsikitsiki, the album also features household names such as Franco, Captain Dira, young kwaito sensation Mlesho, and Cisco B, who first made his name through kwasa-kwasa, then house-kwasa. The new project, according to Vee, is a collaboration by three companies he, Slizer, and Robert Dargie own.
The DVD for the album will hit the shelves next week, while CDs and tapes are already on sale. " It is a heavy production. I am very optimistic it will be well accepted. I think the fact that it features Slizer and I, would make dance lovers want to sample it," Vee told Mmegi Showbiz. He also added that Big Brother Africa 2009 housemate, Kaone, has also featured in the album.
"We see it as a Christmas bonus for everyone. It was a wonderful feeling doing this album, the energy was just awesome," Vee said. For her part, Slizer said she enjoyed every bit of the recording session. "It is a unique project, because we actually did each and every song in the studio. I loved the whole programming and engineering part. I'm so excited about teaming up with the inventor of the house-kwasa genre. He was also very excited", said Slizer whose debut album O tswa kae, has defied the odds, selling over 25, 000 copies despite the recession which has seen many leading musicians' music sales plummet.
Meantime Vee has announced that he will be embarking on a countrywide tour with Slizer to promote the album next month. The details of the tour schedule are still being finalised, but Vee was not in a position to say whether the new album with Slizer will be available on ring tones.
Slizer is not signed to any of the leading cellphone networks and yesterday confessed that she has not been able to avail the ring tones of her hot debut album, O tswa kae to cell phone users for download because the last time she tried with one of the networks, she was tossed from pillar to post.
