Tanzania: Siamini Wins Caddies Golf Open Title

Dar Es Salaam — THE Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) golfer, Siamini Salehe had a dismal final round, but managed to win the inaugural Tanzania Caddies Open title at the club course today. He posted 91 gross.

The DGC's finished one shot clear of club-mate Frank Augustino and Katembo Maftah with a total of 170. Salehe put himself in pole position to win the first ever Tanzania Caddies title, after his 79 gross first round lead yesterday.

His victory earned him chance to lead five other caddies to represent Tanzania in the Kenya Caddies Open tournament, under Cargo Stars Ltd sponsorship later this year. Augustino (87) and Katembo (88) finished in the second and third places respectively.

Salehe started the final day with four shots lead, but struggled with his swing and putting during the final round. Kessy Mwanapala managed a total of 174 to finish in the fourth berth.

Others who made in the top six and secured ticket to play in the Kenyan tournament include TPC club Izaki Anania and DGC Muhidin Salehe, who tied on 174. Chiku Elias collected a total of 149 net to take the ladies prize in the tournament.

Elias had four under par net 67 in the first round, before she returned 80 yesterday. The first ever 36 holes tournament attracted more than 35 Caddies from DGC, Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC), Moshi Club, TPC Moshi and Morogoro Gymkhana Club (MGC). Dar es Salaam based company Cargo Stars Ltd sponsored the event.
