Harare — VARIOUS artistes including sungura music icon Alick Macheso are set to be part of the proceedings to mark the
unveiling of a new administration block at Music Time Cultural Centre in Goromonzi on Sunday.
The sungura artiste is expected to make a presentation on the topic "Music as a Career" as well as take some time off to show the stuff that he is made of.
Project director, Nyararai John-Nguruve said he was thrilled that his centre had come a long way in the completion of the block among other facilities at the centre.
"We hope this will help in the arts promotion of the community.
"We are grateful to all our supporters and people within and around Goromonzi for the enormous support that they have given us.
"They have realised that art plays an important role in social transformation," he said.
Apart from an administration block, some of the facilities that the centre boasts of include guest houses, mini football and netball grounds, recreation grounds, conference room (banya) and a stage, among others.
Several personalities from some of the country's leading arts bodies are expected to be part of the event.
Elvas Mari from the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe will speak on the role of his organisation plays in promoting arts in rural areas, while Farai Mupfunya, the director of the Culture Fund of Zimbabwe, will make a presentation on the role of the Culture Fund in art promotion.
Forgotten artiste Last 'Tambaoga' Chingaira is also expected to make a comeback at the event where he is expected to perform.
Patron of the centre Dr Herbert Murerwa who is also the Minister of Lands and Land Resettlement is expected to give a keynote address.
