LUANSHYA Pastors Fellowship says it is happy that Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has recognised the goodness of the new Chinese investment and urged politicians not to condemn anything conceptualised by the Government.
Fellowship chairperson, Morgan Kanjolo said in an interview that opposition politicians should first wait and observe whether any development introduced by the Government was for the benefit of the people or not before making comments.
Reverend Kanjolo said they were happy that Mr Kambwili had decided to support the China Non Ferrous Mining Corporation (CLM) investment in Copper mining for the sake of fostering development.
"Even us as pastors, we represent the people and we just don't support everything we hear, we only support what deserves to be supported and condemn what should be condemned," Rev Kanjolo said.
He hoped Mr Kambwili would continue to recognise what was good for the people as he had done for the development of Luanshya.
Rev Kanjolo said the people of Luanshya had long accepted the Chinese investment and had so far expressed happiness about it.
And the National Union of Miners and Allied Workers (NUMAW) says it has been vindicated in its support of Chinese investment in LCM because even those that were opposed to it were now benefiting from the investment.
NUMAW president, Mundia Sikufele said as much as the Chinese were not perfect investors, the union would continue to support investors who were willing to make investments that would bring about development and jobs for the people.
In reaction to revelations that Mr Kambwili's company had been awarded a contract by the Chinese run LCM, he said his union was interested in having good investors regardless of their origins.
And Mineworkers Union of Zambia (MUZ) general secretary Oswell Munyenyembe said his union welcomed any investor as long as they provided good jobs and implemented a satisfactory corporate social responsibility programme.
Mr Munyenyembe said the Chinese investors were already making huge investments in Luanshya for all to see and appreciate.
"They are already tarring the road from Baluba to Milyashi and this goes to show that what matters most is whether the investor is able to provide the necessary provisions to the community and employees.
Ndola district MMD vice-chairperson Victor Chimuka has said it is unfortunate that Mr Kambwili can sing praise of the Chinese investors after being awarded a contract.
He appealed to the electorate to be cautious when dealing with politicians that were inconsistence.
