The R.Kelly anticipated concert is 69 days away but Zain Uganda, the company behind his coming, has already stepped up activations.

The concert will also feature five local artistes as curtain-raisers for R&B's number one at Lugogo Cricket Oval, come January 29.

Tonight, action with Toniks and Grace Nakimera will light up Independence Park in Mbarara whilst Aziz Azion and the Obsessions will storm Masaka town tomorrow as part of a promotion to allow music fans vote for their favourite local artistes who will perform alongside Kelly.

Early results, so far, show that Chameleone is in the lead, closely followed by Bebe Cool and the Goodlyfe duo.

A group of 12 artistes in the fray also include; GNL, Iryn Namubiru, Peter Miles, Aziz Azion, Grace Nakimera, Lady Mariam, Toniks, Cindy and the Obsessions.

"Zain is all about the customer's choice, which is what this promotion is hinged on. We are letting the customers make a choice," says Ms Cesear Mloka, the Zain marketing director.

In order to give the artistes a forum in which to 'campaign' for votes, Zain has arranged a series of mini shows around the country.

Jose Chameleone, Bebe Cool and Goodlyfe launched their campaigns to take the stage with R. Kelly over the weekend in Entebbe, Mukono and Wandegeya respectively.
