Kampala — MASAKA district LC5 chairperson, Vincent Sempijja, has asked residents of the Kasijjagirwa Armoured Brigade to stop employing outsiders on their farms. Sempijja said it was better to employ the wives of soldiers on the farms.
Sempijja was inspecting the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) programmes in Kimanya-Kyabakuza division.
He visited among several projects, the army's agricultural project which has benefited from both LGDP and NAADS programs. It's eight cattle have multiplied them to more than 32.
"Had we not sold off some of them, the number would have been much higher than that by now," the brigade garrison commander Maj. Abdallay Adebasco told Sempijja adding that the number of goats had increased from 4 they received under the CHAI program to 17.
Adebasco said that the gardens and farms which Sempijja and the district production committee had visited were set up for demonstration purposes but many soldiers have cassava, maize, pine apple and other crop farms within the barracks.
