Namibia: Grammy Award Winning Jazz Pianist to Play in Country

Windhoek — Namibians are a week away from being afforded the opportunity to enjoy Grammy Award quality latino jazz piano music closer to home. .This will happen on 27 November when Grammy Award winning Cuban pianist Omar Sosa performs live at the National Theatre of Namibia.

Omar is a musician with a huge international reputation, described as an extraordinary composer, arranger, pianist, percussionist, and communicator. He was born 10 April 1965 in Camagüey, Cuba and began studying percussion, including marimba, at the music conservatory in his homeland at the age of eight.

He has received more than 10 international awards and nominations since 1996.

The concert in Namibia is part of Omar's Southern Africa tour. He will be appearing with his Afreecanos Quartet that includes Childo Tomas (Moçambique), Molla Sylla (Senegal) and Patrick Destandeau (Germany).
