Luweero — Luweero District authorities have interdicted the head teacher of Nakigoza Primary School, Mr Fred Balabye, for allegedly stripping five female pupils in the guise of checking them for stolen items and financial mismanagement.
According to a November 18, letter written by the Luweero Chief Administrative Officer (Cao), Mr Nelson Kirenda, to Mr Balabye and Luweero authorities, Mr Balabye admitted to stripping the girls and also for causing financial loss of Shs3.6 million.
Mr Kirenda said the matters calls for a tougher action by appointing authorities.
He said there is lack of proper accountability for Universal Primary Education funds given to the school.
Mr Kirenda states in his letter that the school enrolment which indicates 525 pupils does not tally with the physical count, carried out by the auditors which revealed a lesser number of 162 pupils.
"I am left with no option but to cause your interdiction as you wait to appear before the district service commission," Mr Kirenda's letter states.
When contacted, Mr Balabye referred Daily Monitor to the Cao and the district service commission. "I have no authority to talk to the press on this matters. You can talk to the Cao," he said.
