UNMIL boss Ellen Løj, honouring Indian peacekeepers, have warned members of UN mission here against sexual exploitation.
In remarks honouring Indian female peacekeepers for their dedication and professional service in Liberia, she said sexual abuse is unacceptable.
Addressing the peacekeepers Wednesday at a medal parade, the Special Representative of Secretary General and Head of the UN mission here said the Indian female police unit have inspired Liberian girls and women and that they will leave a positive legacy within the country's security sector.
She indicated that the Indians have demonstrated that they are a capable force in maintaining peace in Liberia.
"We are immensely proud of each and everyone of you for the difference you have made. For the professionalism you have demonstrated. And many Liberian women have begun to emulate you," the UNMIL Chief said.
She urged every member of the UN mission in the country to guide against sexual exploitation and abused, noting the act is "simply wrong and unacceptable".
The Indian Female Police Unite arrived in Liberia in 2007 and currently serves as a rapid reaction force for crowd control and curbed crime and public disorders in joint patrol and operation.
