Tunisia: "Economy Should Benefit From Global Economic Recovery in 2010" Says Minister of Cooperation

Tunis — Most observers agree that the year 2010 will be marked by economic recovery in industrialized countries and some emerging countries, including Tunisia, which is committed to implement the provisions of the Presidential Program for 2009-2014.

In this framework, the House of Representatives held on Wednesday, a parliamentary session on the budget of the Ministry of Development and International Cooperation for the year 2010.

In the presence of Mr. Mohamed Nouri Jouini, Minister of Development and International Cooperation, MP's focused their interventions on the department's budget for 2009, financing and foreign investment, major projects, regional development, employability and technical cooperation.

"The Tunisian economy should benefit from global economic recovery expected for 2010," said Mr. Nouri Jouini, who insisted that his ministry will work to attract foreign investments in high value added sectors including electronical, electrical and mechanical industries.

Addressing regional development, the Minister stressed that the ministry will proceed during the next stage with a new vision that includes all areas of the country in the process of development by promoting investment opportunities, strengthening employability and improving citizens' standards of living.

It is worth noting that the State Budget for 2010 registered a 5.4% growth compared to 2009, representing an increase of 18.335 million dinars.
