Zambia: Chiluba in Country

SECOND Republican president Frederick Chiluba is in Nigeria for a two-week holiday, his spokesperson Emmanuel Mwamba has said.

Speaking in an interview in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Mwamba said Dr Chiluba left on Tuesday last week, undertaking his first international holiday since leaving office in 2001.

He said Dr Chiluba was accompanied by his wife, Regina and two security personnel.

"I can confirm that Dr Chiluba is on a two-week holiday in Nigeria. He left on November 17 with his wife and security officers. He will be in Nigeria for two weeks," Mr Mwamba said.

Since leaving office, Dr Chiluba has not traveled out of Zambia on holiday except for his medical reviews in South Africa.

This was because of his court case where he was accused of allegedly misappropriating US$500,000 for which he was acquitted in August.

Yesterday, Dr Chiluba appeared on Emmanuel TV of Nigeria run by renowned tele-preacher, Prophet TB Joshua.

    It was wonderful to see our former president smiling and happy after so many years of false accusation and persecution. I was so excited to see him on Emmanuel TV yesterday. In an interview after the service, he advised all presidents and leaders to watch Emmanuel TV - that they learn great lessons from the wisdom of God in the life of TB Joshua.
