Somalia: Bitter Fighting Restarts in Southern Region

Bitter fighting between the forces who were recently fighting in Jubba regions has restarted in out of the Kismayu town in Lower Jubba region in southern Somalia, witnesses said on Saturday.

Officials of the Islamist representatives of Jubba regions said that the fighting started at Bibi village in out of Kismayu town as their troops attacked positions of the forces against them were amassing troops in parts of the region.

Sources said that the fighting was very heavy as both the warring sides exchanged heavy weapons during the fighting.

Sheik Hassan Ya'qub Ali, the spokesman of the Islamist representative of Jubba regions of Harakat Al-shabab Mujahideen in southern Somalia held press conference in Kismayu town on Saturday evening and said the fighting started as the Islamist fighters of Jubba regions got information that troops were amassing a centre in Bibi village in the region saying that they had attack their positions adding that they took over the control of the centre and inflicted more casualties.

He said they killed more fighters against them in the fighting.

There is no comment from the other side of the fighting so far and the real casualties of the fuighting are unclear. But the fighting seems to be part of the clashes between the two sides who were fighting against in the southern Somalia recently.
