Kampala — THE MTN Marathon organising committee maintains that Sunday's athletics competition will be scandal-free.
To achieve that, the organisers have already flown in an anti doping official, who will be expected to counter the use of banned substances.
The Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) will also strategically place its officials at specific corners to ensure athletes use the right route.
International standards demand that all athletes are tested for banned substances before being rewarded.
The tests will however be restricted to elite athletes.
"She is jetting in today. As per the international regulations, the rest of the details are expected to be secret. She will be helped by the Ugandan officials," Federation secretary Beatrice Ayikoru stated.
The winner of the main event will walk off with sh5m while the winner of the half marathon and 10km open subsidiary events will also walk off with sh3m and sh1.4m respectively courtesy of sponsors MTN.
