Harare — John "Mr Fantastic" Mutoko has released a new album.
Called "The Voice of silence" the new album hit the market last week, boasting of eight songs, which were done with the help of Tongai Moyo's former bassist Ronnie Mudhindo.
"God speaks to us even when he is silent. You don't have to necessarily hear his voice but believe that he will see you through . . . there is a lot of meaning in his silence," said Mutoko, adding that it was the theme of the album.
The album comes after the success of Mwari Vakatendeka and Valley of Dry Bones which all have accompanying videos.
The Voice of Silence has accompanying videos which were done in Dubai and the UK while some of the tracks will have the videos done here, where he would begin shooting this week.
The arrangement of the songs shows maturity, which is an indication that the Valley of Dry Bones hitmaker has come of age.
"I will do some of the videos here with my Overcomers band: I don't want them to feel left out in the project," said Mutoko.
The album rolls with Ndoredza Vanhu which is a reflection of what other Christians do when they lose hope in Christianity.
It is about a man of God who vehemently refused to be a fisherman again, but claimed that he would become a fisher of men.
"I composed this song in 1992 when I was still a school boy," said Mutoko.
In the song Delilah, Mutoko is alarmed by the rate at which prostitution is increasing not only in Africa, but throughout the world.
He draws similarities between Samson the mighty man of glory who lost God's glory because of the biblical Delilah.
Mr Fantastic says several men who loved God have fallen in the same trap and ended up causing heartbreaks and misery to their own families, while others ended up passing the deadly virus to their partners.
But John Mutoko like the biblical John the Baptist is not a prophet of doom.
He says Jesus is ready to receive people no matter how much they have sinned.
The story of the prodigal son is revisited in the song Ndine Chichemo, where a man realises how much he had strayed and alienated himself from God and his family.
The man seeks reunion with his family and God after acknowledging having sinned.
Parents are urged not to discourage their children in the song Jabez. Mutoko says children as words can turn situations into reality.
Jabez (which means pain) simply refused to yield to the demands of the meaning of his name.
Ndokumbira Zororo, Ndapenyerwa, Ndouraiwa and Eliseo are the other songs on the album.
The album is a good project which is a must for gospel lovers as the year comes to an end.
