Kigali — Nyarugenge intermediate court has sentenced a man who allegedly forged President Paul Kagame's signature to six years in jail.

Robert Munyantore was arrested with forged documents bearing the President's forged signature as his referee. He was using the documents to solicit for employment in different government institutions.

Presided over by Judge Fatuma Mukabibi, the court ruled that Robert Munyantore was guilty of forgery and impersonation.

"The court has found out that it is the second time you are caught with forged documents before completing your suspended sentence, the court sentences you to six years in prison," Judge Mukabibi ruled Friday evening.

Munyantore was also fined Rwf20,000 .

Munyantore had initially been convicted and sentenced to two years in prison, and was serving a suspended sentence of one year on similar charges.
