Namibia: Tourism Insurance for Country

Windhoek — With the rapid growth in the tourism, hospitality and wildlife industry, tourists can now get tourism insurance whenever they travel within the borders of Namibia. Namibia's first tourism insurance company,Safari and Tourism Insurance Brokers Namibia (SATIB Namibia) officially opened its doors on the 1 August under the leadership of Johan Liebenberg. and Sodi Norval.

According to Sodi Norval, the company offers a comprehensive group of products to accommodate all aspects of the tourism industry from liabilities such as passenger, public and professional indemnity, Group or Personal Accident cover, wildlife cover to fire and contract works cover at a competitive rates.

"We are a short term insurance broker that mostly deal with the tourism industry but also do personal, corporate or business insurance,"she said.

Sodi and Johan,both worked for Alexander Forbes RISK services and have years of experience in the insurance industry.

"Althought we are a newly formed company,we are already doing well and taking over the niche market in tourism,"she said.

Although this kind of insurance is very risky and has many cost implication, Sodi is confident that their company will survive this growing industry with lots of competition and grow to many heights.

"We have a personal relationship with our clients and they are loyal and with the backup of the South African company so we are not standing alone,"she said.

Some of SATIB Namibia's biggest clients include Namibian Country lodges group, Gondwana Group,I Dream Africa Tours & Safaris, procoach amongs many others.
