Rwanda: Rassou Doubtful for Challenge Cup

Kigali — AMAVUBI striker Abbas Rassou remains a serious doubt for this year's Orange Challenge Cup.

The lethal forward is struggling with an ankle injury he picked up during Rwanda's crunch Nations Cup qualifier against Zambia.

According to APR, he needs two weeks to recover but the local football federation (Ferwafa) has nevertheless included him in the provisional 26-man squad which started training yesterday.

The Cameroonian born has been a key player for APR after scoring three goals in three games.

Rassou is now expected to be assessed by Amavubi's medical team later this week to determine if the player has a chance of traveling with the team to Kenya.

Rwanda is expected to field a youthful side during the two-week tournament which will be jointly held in Nairobi and Mumias.

Amavubi, who are drawn in Group B open their campaign against Somalia on November 29, play Eritrea on December 3 before tussling it out with Cosafa champions Zimbabwe on December 5. All Group B matches will be played at Nyayo stadium.
