Somalia: Heavy Fighting Starts in Mogadishu

Heavy fighting between the Islamist fighters and AMISOM troops have started around Kulliyadda Jalle Si'ad building, a base for the Burundian troops in the Somali capital Mogadishu, just after a day of calm situation in the capital, witnesses told Shabelle radio on Monday.

Reports say that the clashes broke out after the Islamist forces against the AMISOM and the transitional government troops attacked the base of the AU troops especially the main base of the Burundians in Kulliyadda in Mogadishu.

Residents told Shabelle radio that they once heard the sound of heavy gunfire which both sides exchanged at around Warshadaha street near the AMISOM troops' position in the capital saying expressing concern about the fighting pointing out that they thought as it was non stop raining.

The real casualties of the fighting are unclear so far and there is no source that talked the it so far and the war comes a day after bitter fighting between the Islamist fighters and the allied troops of the transitional government and AMISOSM which caused more casualties in Mogadishu.
