Kasese — Police has arrested a teacher of Mbarara Modern School for using the same land title to acquire loans from different banks.
Mr Herbert Mugarura was arrested on Friday after it emerged that he had acquired loans of up to Shs40 million from five commercial banks. It is alleged that he also used his position as a teacher in charge of catering, to con his school of Shs7 million in food purchases.
The banks are; Post Bank, Bank of Baroda, Housing Finance, Equity and FINCA micro finance. The OC/CID Mr David Turyagumisiriza told Daily Monitor yesterday that initial investigations revealed that the plot Mr Mugarura mortgaged is not his.
