Ho — The Volta Trade and Investment Fair, ended last Sunday, with various expressions from the exhibiters and participants concerning the event. While some described it as very successful, others said, much more needed to be done by the organisers in future, to make it more successful.
They observed that even though the organisation was near-perfect, the timing of the programme was not the best, and suggested that in future such programmes, should be shifted to 26th of the month, rather than the 16th, to allow for more people to purchase some of the items at the fair.
Speaking to the Volta file, the Managing Director of a popular furniture company, Kum Franky Company Limited in Ho, Mr. Frank Agbeve, said the fair was very successful, because many companies, both within and outside the region, were able to showcase their goods to the outside world.
Mr. Agbeve pointed out that the fair clearly exposed the fact that there were many more potentials in the region, which could be harnessed for the socio economic development of the people, and commended the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), organisers of the fair, for their vision and commitment to the development of the region.
The Volta Regional Minister, Mr. Joseph Amenowode, assured the people that the VRCC would make the fair an annual event, and disclosed that the region would host a Culture and Investment Fair in 2010, to showcase both culture and other investment opportunities.
Mr. Amenowode said apart from business people from Accra and other parts of the sub-region attending the fair, the various district assemblies took advantage of the opportunity, and displayed the investment potentials in their respective districts.
He said with the experiences gathered at the just-ended fair, his outfit would work hard to repackage small scale businesses in the region, to enable operators to fully participate in future fairs more effectively, noting that the VRCC would help people and companies interested in investing in the region, with business plans to facilitate their efforts.
The Minister for Tourism, Mrs. Juliana Azumah-Mensah, said her Ministry would work hard to develop the numerous tourism attractions in the region, and urged Ghanaians to develop an interest in tourism, by visiting tourism sites in the country.
The Chairperson for the closing ceremony and the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede XIV, said the development of the region should be seen as a collaborative effort by all to help promote development of the region.
