Vice President of Visual Art Association of Nigeria (VATAN), Prince Adeyemi Kosoko has decried the attitude of state governments towards the provision of visual materials to secondary and primary schools in the country.

Speaking this at a book launch held at the Redeemed Christian Church hall, Dominion Sanctuary Ikotun, Lagos, Kosoko harped on the need for the government to encourage and motivate writers.

The author said Nigeria can be rebranded through arts describing it as the tool that brightens the society and serves as a means of expressing values.

The book encompasses visual arts, music, drama and self reliance aimed at providing gainful employment and knowledge of African, he said.

According to him, a nation's rate of development depends largely on the reasoning capability, which is rooted in the type of education the citizens are exposed to, saying education is the most viable tool of emancipating the youths from bondage and leading them to the greater height.

"Art is life, Life is art. Art is the totality of ways of life of the people. It portrays, projects, exhibits and stabilizes the culture of the people," he said.

He however expressed optimism that the present position of arts has been the principal motivation for the book as a way of contributing his quota to the educational development of Nigeria.

He admonished all art connoisseurs and youths to join in the race to build and promote art through writing of books as well as encouraging students to choose visual arts as a course of study.
