Gambia: Brikama Win, As Banjul Stumble

The day-two matches in the on-going Muhammed Yahya Jammeh Zonal Cup competition were completed on Sunday, with Brikama defeating visitors Lamin 2-0 in the Group B opener at the Box Bar Mini-stadium.

The comfortable victory sends the Brikama side at the top of standings in Group B after Banjul and Serrekunda East setteled for a goalless draw on the same evening at the Serrekunda East mini-stadium. In the opening games on Saturday, champions Bakau, who are bidding for a third successive title, escaped with a narrow 1-0 win over Coastal rivals Gunjur, while Serrekunda West also ease past Sukuta with a similar score line to join Bakau at the top of Group A.

Matches resume on Tuesday, November 24, with Gunjur facing a long trip to Serrekunda West, while Bakau and Sukuta battle it out at the Serrekunda East mini-stadium.
