Kenya: Bitok Walks Out on National Team

Nairobi — Paul Bitok, Kenya's national women's volleyball team head coach, has stepped down. Bitok will not guide the country to the World Championship in Japan next year as he has signed a two-year-deal with the Rwandan national team.

Bitok, a FIVB Level One coach with a Diploma in sports science from a university in Hungary, has been training Kigali-based APR for the last two seasons and helped the military side capture the Rwandan volleyball league title.

He has since been rewarded with the task of guiding Rwanda in rebuilding its volleyball structures as it seeks to carve a niche in continental and international championships.

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) secretary general, Evans Wasike, confirmed that Bitok will not lead the national team to the world championship but noted that it opens up the opportunity for others coaches to ascend to the top.
