Harare — "WE are in Government to grab power" was what one MDC-T functionary said at a rally soon after the party entered into the power-sharing agreement with Zanu-PF and the MDC.
While many took this statement as the usual ranting of the exuberance of youth, it is becoming quite clear that MDC-T has no intention of working with its partners in Government, but hopes to use its foothold in Government to effect regime change.
Depending on whom you listen to, what you read and whom you talk to the goings-on in Zimbabwe's political arena are told very different.
In fact, one can go on to say that news about who is doing what in Zimbabwe's Government has become so important that MDC-T is constantly sending delegation after delegation to update this Head of State and that Head of State across the globe.
One really wonders when some of these delegates, who are Government ministers, find time to discharge their ministerial duties.
The polarisation of media in Zimbabwe has made it very easy for MDC-T to disseminate lies without comebacks.
The scrapping of duty on foreign newspapers by Finance Minister Tendai Biti has created a new loophole for his party and its Western support groups to further the regime change agenda in Zimbabwe under the guise of a free Press.
The US is the financier of this "free Press in Zimbabwe" project as it has injected US$3 million towards the establishment and support of free media in Zimbabwe through Freedom House.
The unfortunate thing about this whole situation is that MDC-T is headed in the same direction Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga first took when he entered into government.
Instead of focusing on reconstruction and national healing, Odinga and his supporters thought they would push Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki as far back into the corner as they could in terms of concessions as a means of taking over all facets of government.
Worst still, at that same time Odinga and his supporters tried to carry out boardroom coups in many of the corporations operating in Kenya.
There was a tidal wave of Luos demanding positions on tribal grounds and not on merit and rank.
Some of these corporations scaled down operations in reaction to this while others were forced to pull out their locally qualified management teams replacing them with foreign executives.
Odinga and his functionaries in government carried on as opposition leaders at rallies instead of government officials who are expected to conduct themselves in a more dignified manner.
By allowing party interests to supersede state interests Odinga and his party ministers were caught numerous times hawking personal opinions passing them as Kenyan government thinking.
On one occasion that country's foreign affairs minister was forced to humble Odinga saying whatever utterances he was making, he was doing so as leader of the Orange Democratic Movement.
MDC-T is trudging the road to perdition.
From the top down the party leadership -- many of whom are in Government -- have failed to shed their party hats and become the servants of the 13 million plus Zimbabweans.
They have proceeded to carry out their duties in Government based on their party interests and not on the interests of Zimbabwe as a whole.
While the MDC-T, through its hordes of free newspapers being distributed across the country, attempts to create a new perception on its role in Government it has failed to deliver.
Instead it should put its mouth were its money is.
Getting a sweet deal at the printers for all these newspapers that "seek to report progress of the inclusive Government" does not translate into food on people's tables, neither does it bring any meaningful discourse but continues to divide Zimbabweans and sow seeds of discord.
Since inception, MDC-T has been making noise over trivia.
The party leadership has claimed that its partner in the GPA, Zanu-PF, has not met any of its obligations yet it is the MDC-T which is yet to show any sincerity in the inclusive Government.
When PM Tsvangirai was asked to move into State House after his swearing in he turned down the offer wanting to score points with his supporters insisting that his Strathaven residence was adequate.
A short while ago the private media began vilifying President Mugabe claiming that he had denied PM Tsvangirai access to State House.
Now and again the public is informed that Zanu-PF "hardliners" are frustrating efforts by the MDC-T to bring "meaningful change" to Zimbabwe.
Of course, it is clear that when the MDC-T talks of "meaningful change" they mean smuggling individuals into Government through the back door, many of whom have close ties to the same Western countries that have been destabilising Zimbabwe over the past 10 years.
The truth is it is MDC-T that has packed our Government with hardliners bent on crashing and burning this country.
At a rally in Tafara in June, two prominent MDC-T ministers claimed that they not only did not recognise President Mugabe's authority but also did not have any respect for the inclusive Government and the GPA that brought it about.
Of course, these two ministers had no problem sharing the high table with a police inspector from ZRP Mabvuku, who was in full uniform chanting MDC-T slogans, while being among the loudest to call for the removal of Attorney-General Johannes Tomana claiming he is a Zanu-PF supporter.
One would think what is good for the gander should be good for the goose but then, as usual, when it comes to the MDC-T the shoe cannot be allowed to fit on anyone's foot but theirs.
The MDC-T leadership's continued denial of the existence of economic sanctions has weakened their credibility since those who imposed the sanctions call the sanctions by name.
It's like the husband of a heavily pregnant woman profusely denying his wife is pregnant while the entire village can see that the woman can go into labour at anytime.
While some in MDC-T have opted to call sanctions "restrictive measures" the fact remains that the MDC-T lobbied for the imposition of sanctions on Zimbabwe as a way of "separating the people from Zanu-PF by making the economy scream" as the US has told us.
MDC-T's continued denial of their role in bringing about the economic malaise of the past decade is a huge obstacle to national healing since sanctions constitute the greatest national injury since 2000.
Instead of standing on the fence the MDC-T should come out in the open and say exactly where they stand.
This back and forth charade is no longer funny.
It has become apparent that while MDC-T can talk the talk, they have failed to walk the talk and instead continue to pull inane stunts in a bid to attract attention.

By their works you shall know them. The blind has seen and he deaf has heard the truth of the matter. The more you demonize MDC the more it gains sympathy from home and within the region and the more it gathers support. This is a true law of nature. I am sorry to say I have seen a remarkable ZANU PF support drop since the formation of GNU and I think it is due to several factors; 1. The nation can see availability of basic needs 2. We see reduce corruption within the public sector; we can see that some of the ministers also push for audit and proper sanitation within the public sector. We can name them and we know from which part they belong. 3. The national press is focusing on the fight against the West forgetting that it is the nation that can vote out or vote in who they trust at that particular point in time. So my dear writer de advised that it is the PEOPLE OF ZIMBABWE true Zimbabweans who make regime change. 4. May I say all these press releases do not reach the majority of the voters at all. It reaches the minority who is literate and are very able to distinguish between blue and green. What the majority of voters understand is true service delivery from the MP and government departments. This is what detaining who to vote for next time. This of coming with election baits forget.
