Nigeria: AMORC Honours Spencer Lewis

Calabar — Members of the worldwide Rosicrucian Order (AMORC) in Nigeria will on Saturday, November 21, 2009, converge on the main bowl of the Cross River State Cultural Centre Complex, Calabar for a seminar in honour of Dr. H. Spencer Lewis.

A statement from the AMORC Regional Administration in Calabar, signed by the Grand Administrator, Dr. Kenneth Idiodi, gave the theme of the one-day seminar as "Rosicrucianism and the Advancement of Humanity" and explained that it would be held in commemoration of the centennial of the induction of Dr. H. Spencer Lewis into the Rosicrucian Tradition in Europe in 1909.

The statement said that Lewis was the first Imperator of the Rosicrucian Order in its second cycle of existence in North America which later expanded into the worldwide jurisdictions of the Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis (AMORC), an authentic and noble order of the pristine tradition.

He also noted that Spencer Lewis fulfilled his mission of service to humanity at great personal sacrifice and continued to be a positive influence in the world today through his vast literary works and teachings.

"The life of Frater H. Spencer Lewis was a formidable demonstration of the principles taught privately to members of the Order.

"We are indeed fortunate to have the example of his achievements as a source of inspiration and motivation for all students on the Rosicrucian Path", Idiodi remarked.

According to him, the whole of the year 2009 had been dedicated to the honour of Dr. Lewis by the hierarchy of the Order and that the seminar in Calabar would form the third point of a triangle of seminars and the grand finale for the year following two others held this year in Lagos and Port Harcourt .

The statement further noted that the seminar was designed to motivate all participants towards the goal of self-mastery at all levels.

Thus, the Grand Administrator recommended the seminar to all persons who may be able to conveniently participate as attendance to the seminar would be free of charge and open to both members and non members.

He said papers would be presentations on various subjects including, "Who and What are the Rosicrucians" by Professor Idowu Biao, Regional Monitor, "The Life and Times of H. Spencer Lewis with Review of his Books" by Chief Patrick Onen, Regional Monitor Emeritus and "The Rosicrucian Approach to Achievement and Success" by Mr. Johnson Ikube,Grand Councillor and Member of the National Board of AMORC.

Idiodi used the medium to express gratitude to God for the significant contributions of AMORC to the advancement of humanity through the expanded consciousness of individuals influenced by the teachings of the pristine tradition it encourages.
