Awka — Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Princess Adebisi Sarah Sosan is expected to be the Special Guest at the donation of 1000 School uniforms to 10 primary schools in Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Council of Lagos on December 3 .
The items which will be donated by a Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Amazing Edu -Care Foundation, were designed to compliment government's effort towards providing quality education to school children in the state and to assist parents to clothe their children with quality uniforms.
The event which will take place at the L A Primary School, Ago-Hausa ,Ajeunle, will witness the presence of the Chairman ,Lagos State Universal Basic Education(SUBEB) Mrs. Daudu Gbalahan and all the six Board members of the commission, chairman Ijeromi Ifelodun Local Council, Hon.Kamal Ayinde;Senior Special Assistant to Governor Fashola, Hon Paul Kalajiaye; the supervisory Councillor for Health in Ajeromi Ifelodun, Mrs Nancy Ekedun and other notable figures in education sector in the state.
The Managing Director of Amazing Edu-Care Foundation, Miss Amaka Ogbonna, in a chart with Champion Scholar, disclosed that the purpose of doling out 1000 school uniforms to pupil in public schools in Ajegunle was to cushion the pain parents are undergoing to kit their children as well to assist the Lagos State Government in its efforts to bequeath quality education to school children in the state.
She further disclosed that, she has been seeing school children going to schools in tattered clothes and sometimes without sandals, a situation she said was not conducive for proper learning and studies.
According to her 'I observed that most of our children in public schools are suffering and need some help to overcome some of the disadvantages in their lives.'
Miss Ogbonna,,29,a former banker, who is an economics graduate of the University of Port Harcourt, noted that the passion she has for helping the poor in the society forced her to abandon her banking job to establish an NGO to assist the less privileged in the society, especially those in schools.
'These children who go to school with rough and dirty clothes should be cared for ,because they are the future leaders of this country. If we do not take good care of them ,we have no right to aspire to bea great country. I have the passion to help the poor and that is what God want me to do". she stated.
