Nigeria: Ikpeba Faults Amodu

Former African Player of the Year, Victor Ikpeba, has faulted coach Shuaibu Amodu's managerial skills describing him as someone who does not command the respect needed to enforce discipline in the Super Eagles. "Indiscipline has been our biggest problem," Ikpeba said. "We need a coach with personality who can command respect, one that the players will fear, like Westerhof did during our time.

Amodu does not have it." But Ikpeba refused to join those calling for the under-fire Amodu to be sacked, saying the former BCC Lions and Sharks coach has earned the right to go to the World Cup."It is not easy to qualify a team for the World Cup, and he has done it twice.

So for me, I think he has done well. But I believe he needs some sort of technical help for the World Cup."Ikpeba, who is ne of a number of ex internationals lined up by SuperSport to provide expert analysis during the African Nations Cup and the World Cup, was speaking at an event organised by SuperSport to launch the combined, exclusive pay-tv coverage of the two tournaments.
