Kaduna — Kwara state Commissioner of Sports, Dr. Abubakar Kallike Amuda has said the aim of Kwara United this season is to be part of the teams that will play continental match at the end of the Globacom Premier league. He said this in Kaduna after playing Kaduna United.
Dr. Amuda said their dream of getting promotion to play continental will be a reality as the club has the target and the Kwara state government is giving all the support required.
"We are re-engineering the club and we believe that we are going to win the league because of the target we have set and all the necessary support is being given to the club in order to help them do well. We have a good team and a good technical adviser which we have confidence in to take us to the promise land" the commissioner said.
According to him, he did not face much challenges when he took over the affairs of the club because of the good manegerial ability of the former management team that handled the club. He promised to continue where they stopped so as to make football fans in the state proud.
When asked if he has any plan for the team after the league break, Amuda said, "Yes we are planning to take the players out of the country, we want to travel to one of the South African countries to train there during the break. We want them to have a quiet place that will help them focus on training because of the goal of this season" the commissioner confirmed.
He commended the NPL for what he called wonderful job in making Nigeria League the first in the continent believing the league will soon enjoy the same endorsement as the European leagues in a short time.
