Lagos — Seasoned sports administrator and commentator, Chuka Momah has come out to correct the falsehood being speculated by Engr. Sani Ndanusa's opposition in the race for the president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), stating emphatically that Ndanusa was duly elected vice-president of the Confederation of African Tennis in 2003 in Pretoria, South Africa. Momah was a former CAT president.

Ndanusa, chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC) and president of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), was purportedly disqualified from the forthcoming NOC election because according to the opposition, he (Ndanusa) has not served up to four years in an executive position in CAT.

Putting the records straight, Momah said that CAT invited him in 2003 to Pretoria as a 'parliamentarian' to assist in the conduct of election s into CAT offices, and that Ndanusa was duly elected as president of CAT Zone II, a position which by the virtue of CAT's automatically makes him a CAT vice-president.

"Much as I don't want to be involved in politics, I would not keep quiet when some people just want to introduce character assassination and mudslinging to score political points".

"In 2003, I was invited by CAT as a parliamentarian to Pretoria, South Africa where Engr. Sani Ndanusa contested and defeated a Malian candidate for the position of CAT Zone II president which automatically makes him a CAT vice-president because the constitution of CAT says all CAT zonal presidents are automatically vice presidents of CAT".

"The records of the election are there with CAT. People should go the extra mile to crosscheck their facts instead of this mudslinging because of an election. I don't believe in character assassination in whatever form. There is an election, make it open to all qualified candidates and whoever wins, the loser congratulate him, that is how this nation can move forward", Momah advised.

The current CAT year book has Ndanusa's profile directly under that of the CAT's president, Tarak Cherif of Tunisia on page 5. On that page, the Bida born sports administrator was reported as CAT First vice president and president Zone II 2003-2011.

Meanwhile, Ndanusa said at the weekend that he is still in the race for the NOC's president and described his purported disqualification as a huge joke.
