Methodist Mission Agricultural Programme (MMAP) and Njawara Agricultural Training Centre (NATC) recently held series of sensitisation meetings in the North Bank on health and hygiene for disaster victims and communities at large, particularly on the signs and symptoms of cholera and other communicable diseases.
Concern Universal, an International NGO, provides funding and the programmes are being coordinated by its Disaster Risk Reduction component. Mama Manneh of Njawara Agricultural Training Centre and Salieu Samba of Methodist Mission Agricultural Programme (MMAP), underscored the importance Concern Universal attaches to disaster risks reduction on families and communities, noting that the awareness creation would help to strengthen awareness among families and communities in the North Bank Region. The officers thanked Concern Universal for their untiring efforts in providing numerous supports to their organisations.
Buba Manjang and Ebrima Hydara of the Regional Health Management Team in Farafenni, commended their partners for complementing the Ministry of HealthÂ's efforts of enlightening people on the effect of diarrhoea and skin diseases which would empower the communities to take prompt decision and report any suspected case to the nearest health facilities. He noted that health and hygiene are vital in the overall health service delivery and that people should always uphold to the principles of promoting personal hygiene at all times. He urged people to establish strong relationship with health workers to ensure that people do not catch up infections that could be health haz. Chief Ebrima Ansu Tamba Jammeh of Upper Baddibu and Kemo Jabbi Gassama, ward councillor of Dasilami, thanked Concern Universal through its development partners for building the capacity of their people on health and hygiene.
