Harare — Zimbabwe's three governing parties have suspended until Saturday their negotiations on outstanding issues impeding the work of the unity government after three days of marathon meetings.
Officials said the talks were adjourned because some of the negotiators will be out of the country on government business.
On November 6, regional leaders meeting in Mozambique directed the Zimbabwean parties to start the talks in 15 days and conclude them within 30 days.
South African President Jacob Zuma, the new facilitator in the dialogue yesterday also signaled his intention to see the talks concluded within the deadline with the appointment of a high level team to monitor progress.
The next few days
Mr Zuma's political adviser, Mr Charles Nqakula, special envoy Mac Maharaj and international relations advisor Ms Lindiwe Zulu will visit Zimbabwe in the next few days to inject urgency into the talks.The talks are being held at a secret location in Harare and so far the negotiations have kept a lid on the deliberations.
Mr Zuma who took over from his predecessor Mr Thabo Mbeki is himself expected in Harare after December 6.
The appointment of the new facilitation team means Mr Mbeki's role in Zimbabwe has ended.
The Zimbabwean parties are haggling over President Robert Mugabe's refusal to reverse his unilateral appointment of his cronies to head the central bank and attorney general's office, pirate radio stations and Western sanctions among a myriad of issues say they will not be bound by the deadline.

The appointment of Dr Gono and A-G Tomana was not "unilateral" and will NEVER be "unilateral" even in the literal sense of the word. How can you call the appointment of the two gentlemen "unilateral" when they were appointed in accordance with the laws of Zimbabwe?
The law clearly states that the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and the Attorney General shall be appointed by the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe. They were appointed by the President, Head of State and Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe and Commander-In-Chief of Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Cde R.G. MUGABE in October of 2008.
In came the GPA, signed on 15 Sept08, which also clearly states that the appointment shall be done by the same Head of State but this time in consultation with the Prime Minister. We did not have a Prime Minister in October08 and it was not President Mugabes problem that Tsvangirai, because of wrong advice from the CIA and MI6, procrastinated until February.
The Unity Government only came into being in February 2009, more than four months after the legitimate and legal appointment of the two gentlemen. How, in this world are the appointments "unilateral"? 'Unilateralism' presupposes that there was legally someone to consult when the President was only supposed to consult as provided for in the constitution and he did exactly that.
Another thing you need to realize and put in your thick empty skull is that, even if the appointment was done after the consummation of the Unity Government, the President of Zimbabwe, according to both the constitution and the GPA, has the final say in any appointment of senior personnel to public offices.
The President is not obliged under any circumstances (he only consults) to take and implement every advice he gets from those he consult - they are only consulted and will only advise but WILL NEVER DECIDE.
In the interest of the country and people of Zimbabwe, the President will appoint the person he believes will serve the country better; will remain loyal to the country and will not waiver even under intense and calculated pressure and demonization from those who want to continue looting our natural resources.
Therefore, whether the Unity Government was in place or not, the two gentlemen were still going to be appointed as they are not only the best qualified but are also the most suitable in terms of what I have described above.
After explaining to and enlightening you this much on this issue I hope, from now onwards, you are never again going to use the word "unilateral", in reference to the legitimate, legal and lawful appointment of Dr Gono and A-G Tomana, unless you are a stupid idiotic fool full of foolishness.

The CIA and M16 did not invent homosexuality, it's a lie. What is true, though, is that the Whites from Europe and North America (with the help of some scientists from Australia and New-Zealand) invented AIDS and introduced it to Africa to decimate the Africans and make re-colonisation easier. That is exactly what is happening, Fredion but it is not ordinary whites or all whites who invented the HIV virus but the CIA. The CIA is responsible for most diseases that are causing havoc in the world. They are the ones who infected those black families with syphilis and they used Agent Orange and Dioxin against innocent unarmed Vietnamese civilians.
