Kampala — Mandela National Stadium will on January 16 host the biggest fight
MANAGEMENT of Mandela National Stadium are ready to host the biggest boxing fight in Uganda's history.
"The management of the stadium welcomes a huge sporting activity of this kind," Jim Mugunga, chairman of the board of the national stadium, said yesterday.
World Boxing Federation heavyweight champion Francois "White Buffalo" Botha takes on former four-time heavyweight champion Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield on January 16. Sweden-based Baltic Pro Box Promotions are organising the fight.
A sell-out crowd of 80,000 spectators is expected, and details are being finalised for worldwide pay-per-view distribution.
On the security for the biggest fight in East Africa, Mugunga, was quick to say: "We have held and hosted bigger activities and there should be no fear of insecurity."
