Uganda: Bobby Keeps Cards to His Chest

Cranes coach Bobby Williamson insists he will only name his final squad of 20 players for the Orange Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup moments before the team leaves for Kenya by road today.

Though, Bobby may not be a fan of Donald Trump's blockbuster reality TV show - the Apprentice - whose catchphrase is 'you are fired', he will deliver the inconvenient truth in a similar and hard-hitting way. "It's not easy to tell players that they won't travel with us but that's the reality of competition. I have seen what everyone can do for the team," Bobby, who will travel with the team despite an accident on Tuesday night, told Daily Monitor.

Cranes won a record 10th regional title in January exhibiting lots of attacking intent and the Scot has not broken from that as most of the team's emphasis has greatly concentrated on enhancing players' passing ability in tight areas.

In defence, Joseph Owino could partner captain Andy Mwesigwa with Simeon Masaba and Godfrey Walusimbi filling the fullback position. Edward Ssali, Habib Kavuma, Jimmy Mukubya and Musa Doca will fight for crabs.

Tony Mawejje leads the race in middle and could be partnered by Owen Kasule while the Juma Saddam and Noah Ssemakula may have to wait on the bench due to inexperience.

Either flank

Patrick Ochan (St. George, Ethiopia), almost a sure certainty in the middle, was yet to join the team by press time. Dan Wagaluka, Tony Odur, Steven Bengo, Simon Sserunkuma and Tony Odur will battle for either flank positions. Upfront, it's a direct shootout between any of Geoffrey Massa, Emmanuel Okwi, Robert Ssentogo and Peter Ssenyonjo. "I think I will need three goalkeepers because an injury and suspension to one or two might greatly expose us," Bobby noted.
