27 November 2009

Celebrated music preacher Pastor Wilson Bugembe, will tonight host worshippers in a night-long worship gathering under the dub Worship Night '09. The night, which has previously attracted a mammoth crowd, mostly of the born-again, is bringing together a number of names in the gospel music circles as well as top church choirs.

Addressing the press earlier in the week Pr. Bugembe who is chief organiser of the worship night said the African Children's Choir and the Light the world Church choir will be some of the main highlights of the night. He added that though he had not yet confirmed, Isaiah Katumwa had showed interest in being one of the performers at the Worship Night at Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium in Kampala tonight.

"It is the fourth time we are hosting the worship night. We got over 50,000 worshippers turn up last year and expect it will be even bigger this year," Pr. Bugembe who recollects having hosted not more than 150 people during the inaugural worship night in 2005, added.

Also on stage will also be fellow Pearl of Africa Music (Pam) winner, Judith Babirye while Pr. Dipi Oluyuni from UK will be guest preacher at the do.

Without sponsors for the worship night, Pr. Bugembe justified the decision to charge worshippers Shs500 each, which he said would go into catering for costs like sound equipment and renting the Nakivubo Stadium where it's going to take place. The worship night starts at 6 pm this evening and lasts to 6 am tomorrow morning.

Now in its fifth year, the Worship Night has become an instant hit, attracting a cross section of Christians from the various churches.
