Dar Es Salaam — TANZANIA'S Police Barracks will take part in a continental darts tournament dubbed 'SARPCCO games 2009,' to take place in Malawi from November 30 to December 14.
Chairman of the Dar es Salaam Amateur Darts Association, Bharat Vyas, said nine members of the team are scheduled to leave early next week for the coveted championships.
Tanzania Police Force emerged the overall winners in the fifth edition of the SARPCCO Games which took place in Harare, Zimbabwe, in 2007.
The team also won the title when the championships were staged in South Africa in 2005, scooping a total of 34 medals - gold (18), silver (10) and bronze (6). Vyas said the team's departure will give a recess to the ongoing Dar es Salaam Darts Challenge.
He said the challenge will resume only after they return in mid December, this year. Over 20 teams divided in two groups, are taking part in the Challenge organized by Upanga Darts Club.
Group A has Upanga A, Urafiki, Ubukoni from Temeke, Khalsa B, Union Sports Club, Kawe A, Upanga Trisco, Dar es Salaam Institute, Katumba, Francois and Vigae.
In group B, the teams are Police Barracks, Upanga C, Lugalo Darts Club, Kimanga Upanga B, Kashidu, Khalsa, Kawe B, Badminton Institute and Sonny Darts.
