Lagos — Lagos State Government has been called upon to find a lasting solution to the prevailing traffic jam that has ravaged the Ikorodu Town on a daily basis by constructing the fourth Mainland Bridge that will link the town to other parts of the state.
The town, situated at the outskirts of the state, has over the years gradually become an abode for Lagosians who have been trooping to the town for solace as the mainland metropolis has been exhausted by the citizens and strangers that lived in the state. While lamenting on the pains and agonies experienced on daily basis in a chat with Daily Trust, motorists complained that the State Governor, Raji Babatunde Fashola, should addressed this situation as a matter of urgent attention having been to the town on several occasions either for a visit or commissioning of projects.
In a separate interview, Adebayo Shofunmiyi narrated that he spent nothing less than N10, 000 on fuel every week as a result of the erratic traffic jam that has characterised the town, adding that he usually spent close to three hours from his office at Victoria Island to Ikorodu daily, a situation he described as a bad omen for the modern day society and living.
Furthermore, he remarked that had it been there is another bridge that connects the town from the third Mainland Bridge, the situation would have reduced the centralisation of vehicles along Ketu-Ikorodu road that was beyond the control of the motorists and residents.
