Gambia: KEYCDA On Cleansing Exercise

The Kombo East Youth and Children Development Association (KEYCDA), on Sunday, embarked on a massive cleansing exercise in the village of Kuloro.

The cleansing exercise is part of KEYCDAÂ's 2008 forum resolution, which was adopted in Kafuta village. The exercise mainly target public places like markets, schools and taps. Speaking at the event, Sally Fofana, assistant coordinator of KEYCDA, commended the people of Kuloro for the large turnout, noting a clean environment improves the health condition of human being. According to her, the cleansing exercise have gain momentum over the past months in which many villages were clean. As of now, she said, many villages have benefited from the initiatives.

Fafona told the gathering that it is their social responsibility as young people to keep the district clean and free from hazardous environment. Dembo Kuyateh, information, education and communication of KEYCDA, called on the people of Kuloro to unite in the interest of development KEYCDA, he said, is there to work towards the development of the district.

Fama Barry, Chairperson of Kuloro Village development committee commended KEYCDA for their visionary and foresight initiative. She urged them to double up their efforts in order to successfully attain their set goals. She promised young people of her committeeÂ's unreserved commitment to foster relationship with them for development. Lamin Darboe, Youth and child officer of Kaira Nyining Federation, said, KEYCDAÂ's main target is to unite the whole of Kombo East under one umbrella of sustainable socio-economic development. This she said, can be attain if the young people who are the future leaders are ready to take up their responsibilities. Darboe commended the people of Kuloro for their turnout and promised them of KEYCDAÂ's cordial relationship with them.
