NPA Managing Director Lauds UNMIL NIBATT-22

The Managing Director of the National Port Authority, Matilda W Parker has praised the UNMIL's NIBAT-22 contingent for their contribution toward improving the security condition at the port. Mrs. Parker made the commendation recently when she paid a one day courtesy visit to the Commanding Officer of UNMIL NIBATT-22 contingent, LT/Col. Benjamin Olufemi Sawyer at the Nibatt-22 Headquarters at Fartomah Camp in Tubmanburg, Bomi County.

Mrs. Parker said, her visit was necessitated by the recent changes and improvements experienced in area of security at the National Port Authority, and to thank the Commanding Officer and his men for the good work they have been doing to improve security at the port, an entity, she said is the back bone of the country's economy.

She thanked the NIBATT-22 Peace Keepers for improving security at the National Port Authority within a short period of time.

Mrs. Parker indicated that the port is the major source of income for the country and because of this, she added, many eyes are on it. She also disclosed that some unpatriotic citizens are trying to sabotage the authority by engaging in criminal activities.

She attributed the condition to the lack of proper security arrangement and since NIBATT-22 has taken a proper stance, criminal activities have reduced to the barest minimal. Making remarks on behalf of the United Nations Mission, the Commanding Officer thanked the NPA Managing Director and her entourage for attending to the courtesy call.

LT/Col. Sawyer applauded Madam Parker for the brilliant display of leadership qualities and achievement which he said worth emulating.

The Commanding Officer equally promised to continue to give his support to the National Port Authority and at the same time, reaffirmed the commitment of the NIBATT-22 Contingent toward collaboration with the port security and other security apparatus in the country to completely flush out criminal activities at the port and its environs.
